Dr. Pragna Patel and Dr. Don Brown were awarded a research grant by the National Institute of Health.
Purpose of Research: The goal of the research is to elucidate factors important for tooth development in humans and to understand how mutations within genes encoding these factors contribute to congenitally missing teeth.
The information obtained from this research study will add to the knowledge of human tooth development and enable the design of better diagnostic and treatment strategies for hypodontia (missing teeth) patients in the future.

In October 2007 Dr. Brown was elected President of the Academy of Dentistry International Foundation. The Academy is an honor society for dentists dedicated to sharing knowledge through continuing education in order to elevate the standard of dental care, better serve the dental health needs and improve the quality of life throughout the world. By its support and sponsorship of special education and humanitarian service projects, the Academy directly contributes to the improvement of dental health and well-being of mankind worldwide.
